On June 1, the Chinese Embassy held Open Day and celebration of the International Children's Day. Over 100 guests, including students of Kenyan primary and secondary schools and children of overseas Chinese, attended the event.

In her remarks, Amb. Guo Haiyan extended festive greetings to the children and expressed best wishes for their growth. Amb. Guo noted that the friendly exchanges between China and Kenya enjoys a long history. In recent years, China-Kenya relations have been upgraded and are marching toward jointly building the China-Kenya community with a shared future for the new era. Amb. Guo also briefed the children on China's development achievements and encouraged them to follow China closely, fall in love with China, and actively contribute to China-Kenya relations when they grow up.
The children enjoyed cultural performances by Chinese and Kenyan young people, including lion dance, martial arts, kuaiban(clapper talk ), songs and dances. They also took part in fun games such as tug-of-war and land dragon boat race, and experienced Chinese culture and customs, such as making zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings) and fragrant sachets, Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese attires. The children said they had spent an unforgettable and meaningful Children's Day at the Embassy.
